What Is a Falling Film Evaporator?

A falling film evaporator is a vertical shell-and-tube continuous evaporation device designed for large-scale industrial liquid concentration. The entire evaporation process is completed under vacuum and low-temperature conditions, enabling continuous feeding, continuous evaporation, and continuous discharging. It can be configured as a single-effect unit or combined into multi-effect and MVR evaporation systems to meet different energy-saving and production capacity requirements.



Working Principle of Falling Film Evaporators

The working process of a falling film evaporator follows a standardized and efficient thin-film evaporation logic. First, the pre-treated material liquid is evenly distributed to the inner wall of each heat exchange tube through a top professional liquid distributor. Under the combined action of gravity and vacuum negative pressure, the material naturally flows downward in a uniform thin-film state, instead of accumulating inside the tubes.


During the downward flowing process, the thin liquid film fully contacts the outer heating steam. Rapid heat exchange occurs instantly, leading to solvent vaporization inside the liquid film. The mixed fluid of concentrated material and secondary steam flows into the bottom separation chamber, where gas-liquid separation is realized. The concentrated finished liquid is discharged through the discharging system, while the separated secondary steam enters the condenser for recycling or is reused by the multi-effect system and MVR compressor to improve energy utilization efficiency.

The core advantage of this working principle is that the material only contacts the heating surface in an ultra-thin and fast-flow state. It avoids long-term high-temperature heating and local overheating problems existing in traditional evaporation equipment.
